Youth Safety Education Day 2020: Reaching Saskatchewan Youth Like Never Before

We are excited to announce that 2020 marks the 9th consecutive year declaring September 10th as Youth Safety Education Day. What is YSED, you ask? Well, YSED may mean many things to different people. Some may think of it as a chance to remind their child to wear a helmet while riding their bike, another person may see the day as an opportunity to tell their teenage child to be careful when driving to school. While all safety messages are great messages, YSED is actually a day created by Service Hospitality to help bring workplace safety awareness to the youth of Saskatchewan.

YSED began because Saskatchewan youth, as vulnerable workers, were experiencing an alarming level of workplace injuries each year. It provides a platform for Service Hospitality to relay critical safety messages and information needed to encourage young individuals to stay safe on the job while reducing workplace incidents. It’s no secret, youth are a very important part of our workforce, so we need to keep them safe.

Over the years we have travelled to many areas of the province, including Regina, Prince Albert, Indian Head and Estevan. We are proud that we have reached thousands of youth with events and resources and we are on track to educate so many more! To do this we need your help!

This year has brought us new challenges which we’ve stepped up to navigate. We are delighted to present YSED as a virtual event! This has provided new opportunities for YSED2020 because now we can reach even more youth from communities across Saskatchewan. We look forward to welcoming youth province-wide to our 1-hour event. We couldn’t be happier to have the ability to reach more young people with our message.

During the 1-hour online event expect to gain valuable safety information and to be moved by the guest speaker’s personal account of experiencing a workplace tragedy.  In addition to learning about how to be safe on the job, individuals will have a chance to win an Educational Tech Package worth $2000 just for watching the online event.

Service Hospitality has made it easier for you to view the Youth Safety Education Day event by adding two additional times. The three dates and times for the educational online event are:
