We Love What We Do – And it Shows!

The saying goes, find a job that you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life. Couple this with an employer who places a significant focus on the Health and Safety of their workers and it’s a recipe for a long-tenured employee. At Service Hospitality we have a passion for health and safety, including the health and safety of each of our workers, and we love what we do! It is with enthusiasm and pride, that we would like to share that we are celebrating two employees who have recently reached significant milestones. Celebrating five years at the organization is Dara Miazyk. Dara started in July of 2015 as an Administrative Assistant and has worked her way to Senior Communications Coordinator. In the words of Service Hospitality CEO George Marshall, “Dara was hired to help lead the change in our culture, she has never let us down!”. Dara has been described as a breath of fresh air, someone who brings energy, drive and professionalism to our workplace; she makes it fun to work here.

Dara’s natural project management and leadership abilities play a key role in Service Hospitality’s Youth Safety Education Day. Since she took over this project three years ago, we have been able to reach upwards of 86,000 kids! We anticipate that we will surpass the 100,000 mark by the close of this year’s event. Dara has been able to manage this event seamlessly, in conjunction with her day-to-day work, while also arranging events such as our 20th-anniversary bash in 2016 and our rebrand launch in 2019. Finally, Dara has been commended on her strong ability to remain resilient in the face of challenges, while supporting those around her.

Celebrating ten years at the organization is Alison Wall. Alison started in August of 2010 as a Business Advisor and has held a variety of roles since. Alison’s current title is Senior Business Analyst. Again, to quote CEO George Marshall, “Alison marked a change from the old way our association handled our products, services and customer relations”. Alison is known for her intelligence, dedication, and top-notch research skills, she has been called upon to do a “deep dive” into various topics to support our organization, as well as our partners and stakeholders.

Alison has played an integral role within our organization, including in corporate and strategic planning. Alison developed the core employment services programs, that are components of our Hospitality Safety Leadership Certification, the highest standard for safety certification in Saskatchewan. This significant task took Alison only three months to complete, and it has been stated that it took just one year of employment for her to be considered a highly effective and knowledgeable advisor. Lastly, Alison is known for being someone who is highly empathetic, while strong, and as someone who is easy to become friends with.

On behalf of the Service Hospitality team, I would like to congratulate both Dara and Alison on their milestones. We look forward to many more years of working together as both colleagues and friends. Cheers!
