Passion. What is it? And what does it mean to have passion? At Service Hospitality, our top priority is the health and safety of our employees, members and communities. It’s easy to focus on numbers, facts, figures and details. But we don’t get up every day, stay late and work weekends because of numbers. We do what we do because behind every number is a person – a person who got injured. A family who is helping them. Boss and co-workers alongside them. Injuries are ripples that affect so many people in our province and across the country. And that is what spurs us on, more education, more training, more innovation, zero losses, it’s at the heart of what we do. This is our passion.
As Chair, and on behalf of Service Hospitality’s Board and the entire organization, Mr. Kirk Heidecker, recaps the following:
-
The widest audience ever: From an organization that reached only 830 people in 2012, Service Hospitality educated and trained more than 68,000 people in 2019.
-
New Low for Injuries: We dropped another 40 injuries in 2019 to reach 1729, a twenty-year low in total injuries for our sector.
-
Improved products: We have the highest quality in-person training among all safety associations in Saskatchewan and perhaps even in Canada.
-
Mental Health Best Practice Group increase: Membership in this group grew to 110 members and provided outstanding value to our customers.
-
Lowest turnover since 2012: We experienced just 9% turnover, which is the lowest in 7 years (industry average of 45%).
-
Operating 10% below budget: for the entire year – arguably our most tightly managed year financially in the past decade.
