School’s in Session – Safety 101

It’s the beginning of the school year and Service Hospitality is starting off with a bang by celebrating Youth Safety Education Day on September 10th! This year we will be at three high schools throughout Saskatchewan to promote workplace safety and positive mental health to the youth of our province.  The celebration will include messages from key Saskatchewan dignitaries and guest speaker Jim Demeray – UnderstandUs, safety booth displays, fun music and more.

This year, 220 schools and businesses have partnered with Service Hospitality and over 38,500 youth will be reached with the important message of workplace safety.  We would love to partner with as many schools and organizations as possible for Youth Safety Education Day. If you are interested in partnering with us for this amazing day, please visit our Youth Safety Education Day page to find our Partnership Form, along with a variety of free teaching resources relating to workplace safety and mental health.

Elementary school students…you are not left out! This year, we have partnered with the Regina Catholic School Division and the Prairie Valley School Division for students to participate in a Positive Mental Health Poster contest.  The winning entries will receive a pizza party for their classroom.

Wait, it doesn’t stop there! On September 11th, we’ve partnered with the Saskatchewan First Nation Safety Association for Youth Safety Education Day 2019.  With an expected 2000+ students in attendance, this partnership allows us to bring the message of workplace safety to the youth attending Treaty 4 in Fort Qu’Appelle.

Looking for more youth presentations and resources relating to safety?

We deliver grade 6 safety presentations and grade 8 mental health presentations to Regina and Saskatoon area school divisions.  The presentations and corresponding activities are all free, curriculum-aligned, and engaging for students.  If you are outside the Regina and Saskatoon areas, contact us to learn about the options available to you. In addition to the elementary school presentations, we also offer free, online high school safety courses through Safety in Schools.

We are looking forward to working with Saskatchewan students and teachers this school year!  Let Service Hospitality bring safety education to your classroom.
