The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the workplace is important on a normal day. With the rise of COVID-19 the use of personal protective equipment is required more than ever before. The importance of wearing PPE, allows us to perform our job safely, reduce exposure to workplace hazards and increases our quality of work. The type of PPE you use will depend on the work environment.
In times like these workers in people-oriented careers should wear personal protective equipment. You may find yourself being required to use PPE that is new to you or has never been required in your job before. In situations, where you’re caring for someone who is suspected or confirmed with COVID-19, equipment such as hand hygiene products, face masks, gloves, isolation suits and goggles can help prevent contracting and spreading the virus. Not only is it important to wear PPE, but it’s also important to be familiar with how to properly “don” and “doff”.
