The HSLC, or Hospitality Safety Leadership Certificate, is the highest standard for safety certification in Saskatchewan!

Level 2

Build the foundation of an OHS system by identifying staff training needs and conducting the property’s hazard assessments.

  1. Key employee(s) complete Staff Orientation and Training session (1/2 day).

  2. Key employee(s) complete Hazard Identification & Control training (3/4 day).

  3. The property submits their completed hazard assessment to the SHSA for review and approval.

  4. The property has completed a successful SHSA Perception Survey within the past 3 years.

  5. Completion of HSLC Level 1

Staff Orientation and Training

Employers have legislated responsibilities to ensure workers are aware of their health and safety responsibilities.  The need to be informed of the hazards and methods of control for these hazards in their workplace.  This course outlines how orientations and job-specific training are used to help meet these obligations and support an incident-free workplace.

This course will cover:

  • Why health and safety orientations must be conducted

  • What to include in an orientation

  • How to deliver orientations

  • Why job-specific training must be conducted

  • What to include in job-specific training

  • Tips for conducting job-specific training

  • Who should deliver orientations and training

  • What records to keep, and why we need to keep them

Recommended for:
-General Managers, Directors, Senior Managers, Human Resources, and safety professionals.

-2 hours

Hazard Identification and Control

True injury prevention starts and ends here!  By identifying hazards before they cause an injury or damage, you can prevent suffering and the potential for major human and monetary costs.  An effective hazard identification and control program is the key to a health and safe workplace.

This course will cover:

  • Different types of hazards and where they can be located

  • The hierarchy of controls

  • How to prioritize each hazard

  • How to assess the effectiveness of current controls and how to make them more effective

  • How to create ‘safe work practices’ and ‘safe job procedures’ as well as who should be involved in their creation

-Managers, Supervisors, Human Resources, Health & Safety Committee Members and anyone who wants to increase their injury prevention knowledge.
